Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) Assistance at the School of Pharmacy this Saturday!
Wilkes Pharmacy Students offer Assistance with Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”) Sign-Ups
Pharmacy students from Wilkes University, in cooperation with the Advocacy Alliance, will offer an outreach session to assist community members learn about and sign up for the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”) on Saturday November 21st, from 10 AM to 1 PM at Wilkes University.
This year the “Open Enrollment” period for signing up for Healthcare through the Affordable Care Act will be from November 1, 2015 - January 31st, 2016. After January 31st, the next Open Enrollment period for Marketplace HealthCare will be next November, 2016. If you do not have HealthCare after March 31st, you may be assessed a penalty 2.5% of household income or $695 per adult, whichever is higher.
Attendees should bring their Social Security numbers or document information for immigrants with satisfactory status; employer and income information for everyone in the family; and federal tax information. Attendees may wish to determine their eligibility for tax credits towards HealthCare Plan premiums in the Marketplace and sign up for an insurance plan that day, or just gather information.
The event will be in the Nesbitt School of Pharmacy. Community members may park behind the Henry Student Center Building at 84 West South Street. Individuals are encouraged to call 570-408-4290 to make an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome if space is available. Signs with walking directions to the event will be posted.
