Lackawanna College Police Academy Protect & Defend 5K Run/Walk

Benefitting the Funds for PSP Cpl. Bryon Dickson and Trooper Alex Douglass

Lackawanna College Police Academy is hosting a 5K Run/Walk on May 24, 2015. The purpose of the Protect & Defend 5K is to show our community’s support and appreciation for law enforcement, and the inaugural race is to benefit the funds for Pennsylvania State Police Cpl. Bryon Dickson and Trooper Alex Douglass. 

Cpl. Dickson and Trooper Douglass were victims of an ambush shooting at the State Police barracks in Blooming Grove on September 12, 2014. Cpl. Dickson died as a result, and Tpr. Douglass has undergone 16 surgeries for severe injuries, and is expected to undergo more surgery and extensive physical therapy. 

The event will begin with registration at 8:00 am on May 24 at the Greater YMCA off the O’Neil Highway in Dunmore, at 706 North Blakeley Street. The race will kick off at 9:30 a.m. Awards will be given to top placement runners. In addition to the race, there will be family and child-friendly activities at the event.
