Campus Gateway Update

The next phase of the Campus Gateway project is slated to begin the week of May 25.  Sordoni Construction Services plans to move equipment to campus during the week with construction scheduled to start no later than June 3.  While the project is underway, the entire walkway from South Main St. to Franklin St. will be closed to pedestrian traffic.  During this time, we ask our students, faculty and staff who may park in the garage or the 141 S. Main St. lot to proceed around the South St. side of University Center on Main to access the center of campus.  The main entrance to Weckesser Hall will also be blocked, so visitors and employees are asked to use the Franklin Street entrance to the building. Sordoni advised that the total closure would be the safest, most economical and most efficient means to Gateway completion.  The vast majority of project work will be complete by Aug. 3, though some columns and street lights will be installed after that date.  While the work may cause a slight inconvenience during the summer months, the finished Campus Gateway will be a wonderful addition to campus and the surrounding community.
