2015 Pharmacy Graduates Pursuing Post-Graduate Training

Congratulations to the 2015 Doctor of Pharmacy graduates who will represent Wilkes University all across the country in post-graduate training!

Post-graduate training for pharmacists consists primarily of residencies, fellowships, and PhD programs.  Although not required for practice, post-graduate training is becoming more desirable as it allows pharmacists to work in advanced positions within the profession.  Residencies may be a 1-2 year commitment, while fellowships follow a 2- year specialized pharmacy track.  Only a select number of graduates are awarded a residency or other post-graduate position, adding to the honor and value of this opportunity.

Nationwide, up to 23% of pharmacy graduates will be placed into residency training.  At Wilkes, 26% of the class of 2015 matched with residency programs.  Including fellowships as well, 29% of the 2014 Doctor of Pharmacy graduates were placed into post-graduate programs.  As a community, we congratulate them on their achievements and wish them good luck!
