DoD Updates Equal Opportunity Policy to Include Sexual Orientation

Team Wilkes,
As LGBT Pride Month continues, I would like to share this article from the Department of Defense News. In his speech, Secretary Carter emphasized that the federal government treats sexual-orientation-based discrimination the same way it treats discrimination based on race, religion, color, sex, age and national origin. Service members are protected against unlawful discrimination under the military equal opportunity program.
Detachment 752 recognizes diversity as one of our nation’s greatest strengths! We celebrate our rich diversity and renew our enduring commitment to equity. Remember, diversity is more than race, gender and ethnicity – among other things, it means diversity of thought, ability, background, language, culture and skill.
