Wilkes University held its spring commencement ceremony on May 6 in the Mesa Center for Higher Education at the Hilton Phoenix/Mesa in Mesa. Graduates were awarded bachelor's and master's degrees at the event. The welcome address was presented by Marianne M. Rexer, interim executive director of Wilkes University in Arizona. Wilkes student Aubrey McCown gave the undergraduate greeting, and student Levi Leyba presented the graduate greeting. Dean of the Jay S. Sidhu School of Business Abel Adekola gave the dean's message, followed by a message to the graduates by Anthony L. Liuzzo, chairperson of the business programs of Arizona. Wilkes University Senior Vice President and Provost Anne Skleder delivered a recognition of Dr. Liuzzo.
Wilkes University in Arizona held the second annual Wilkes University Entrepreneurial Experience Competition on April 24 in Mesa. Teams of Wilkes students presented plans for starting their own businesses in the competition.
NASPA (National Association of Student Personnel Administrators) selected Wilkes University to join its Lead Initiative on Civic Learning and Democratic Engagement.
The Wilkes University Graduate Creative Writing program will host an instant decision open house from 1 - 4 p.m. on Fri., Oct. 21 and from 3 - 5 p.m. on Sat., Oct. 22 at Mesa Center for Higher Education 245 W. 2nd St., Mesa. Attendees bringing writing samples can receive an instant admission decision. They will also have the opportunity to learn more about the program from the director and staff.
Applications for the low-residency program are due by Nov. 15 Wilkes University is now accepting applications for the doctor of education degree. Accepted students will start in January 2017.
