Scholarship Announcement 2017

The School of Pharmacy is pleased to announce scholarship opportunities for the upcoming year. There are many different scholarship opportunities available for students who qualify. Please indicate if you are a student with a previous degree so that can be taken into account for financial need. Please read the information below to determine if you meet the criteria and the process to be considered for the scholarship. Please note that you should put the name of the scholarship in the title of your essay so it is clear which scholarship you are applying for. Only list your name at the top and not throughout the essay. Deliver a printed copy of the essay to Ms. Atiyeh in the Deans' Suite by April 12th by 4 pm. ALL scholarships are due by this date. Please contact Dr. Olenak if you have any questions regarding the scholarship criteria.

William Rice Scholarship Opportunity

The scholarship is based on academic performance, financial need, and contributions to campus diversity efforts. Students who are interested can self-nominate or ask a faculty to nominate them. Self-nominations must be followed by a faculty or advisor statement of support. The student is required to write a one page word essay on their contributions to campus diversity efforts. Academic performance and financial need information will be provided by the University. Please submit nominations to Dr. Julie Olenak at julie.olenak@wilkes.edu and your essay by April 12th by 4 p.m. to Ms. Karen Atiyeh at karen.atiyeh@wilkes.edu. Although the deadline is within this semester, please note that these scholarships would not be applied to your financial account until next (2017-2018) academic year.

Pharmacy Scholarship

The Pharmacy Scholarship criteria includes: academic performance, financial aid status, and an essay evaluation. A student may self-nominate for this scholarship or be nominated by a faculty member. Preference will be given to students who are not eligible for undergraduate level financial aid awards but that does not exclude any student from applying. The student should submit a printed copy of a one page essay on "type of alumni I will be" to Ms. Karen Atiyeh by April 12th by 4 p.m. Although the deadline is within this semester, please note that these scholarships would not be applied to your financial account until next (2017-2018) academic year.

Samuel Berk Memorial Scholarship

The Samuel Berk Memorial Scholarship criteria includes: academic performance, financial aid, and an essay evaluation. A student may self-nominate for this scholarship or be nominated by a faculty member. Preference will be given to students who are not eligible for undergraduate level financial aid awards but that does not exclude any student from applying. The student should submit a printed copy of a one page essay on "involvement in School of Pharmacy and community extracurricular activities" to Ms. Karen Atiyeh by April 12th by 4 p.m. Although the deadline is within this semester, please note that these scholarships would not be applied to your financial account until next (2017-2018) academic year.

Walgreens Multilingual Scholarship

Walgreens Multilingual Scholarship is awarded to a single student who is fluent speaking in one or more languages in addition to English, with an interest in community pharmacy. While not required to apply, please include if you are a current Walgreens employee. Students who meet these criteria should submit a one page essay, addressing the criteria, to Ms. Atiyeh by April 12th by 4 p.m. This scholarship would be applied to the 16-17 academic year.

Walgreens Diversity & Inclusion Excellence Scholarship

This scholarship is indicated for students with an interest in community pharmacy. In addition, the student must describe how they embraces and promote diversity and inclusion initiatives on campus OR represent an underrepresented minority group. You must not have been a previous recipient of the Walgreens Diversity Scholarship. While not required to apply, please include if you are a current Walgreens employee. The student should submit a one page essay describing how they meet the criteria. The essay should be submitted to Ms. Atiyeh by April 12th by 4 p.m. This scholarship would be applied to the 16-17 academic year.

CVS Health Scholarship

The criteria for the CVS Student Scholarship include: being in good academic standing, interest in a career in community practice, and volunteer his/her time with an organization that support underserved populations. In addition, please note if you are a bilingual student (not required but gives preference to one of their scholarships). Students interested in being considered for this scholarship should submit a one page essay addressing the criteria. While not required to apply, please include if you are a CVS employee. Essay is due no later than 4 p.m. April 12th and should be hand delivered to Ms. Atiyeh in the Deans' Suite. These scholarships would be applied to the 16-17 academic year.
