PinnacleHealth (Harrisburg) will be at Midyear for their new PGY-1

PinnacleHealth Hospitals is recruiting two PGY1 pharmacy residents for 2017. We will be participating in the Residency Showcase at the Midyear Clinical Meeting in Las Vegas on Tuesday, December 6th from 1-4 pm at booth 6104. As a new program, our information is not yet posted online, so we encourage any interested candidates to stop by our booth or reach out to us by email at any time.

PinnacleHealth's PGY1 residency program seeks to prepare new practitioners for entry into health-system pharmacy by providing a progressive, challenging, and well-rounded experience. Our rotations include internal medicine, critical care, emergency medicine, oncology, pediatrics/neonatology, pharmacy management, cardiology, solid organ transplant, infectious diseases, and informatics. Residents also participate in various committees and project involvement.

PGY1 residents at PinnacleHealth will practice collaboratively with physicians and nurses to improve the care of our diverse patient populations. Pharmacy practice and medication safety at PinnacleHealth is supported by state-of-the-art technologies—including Epic, barcode verification of medications upon dispensing and administration, intelligent infusion devices – offering a fully integrated pharmacosurveillance system for medication management across the continuum of care. Pharmacists assist with the optimization of patient-specific pharmacotherapy through standardized protocols for antimicrobial stewardship, IV to PO medication conversions, dosing of vancomycin and aminoglycosides and automatic adjustment of renally eliminated medications.
