Scholarship Announcement

The School of Pharmacy is pleased to announce scholarship opportunities for the upcoming year. There are many different scholarship opportunities available for students who qualify. Please indicate if you are a student with a previous degree so that can be taken into account for financial need. Please read the information below to determine if you meet the criteria and the process to be considered for the scholarship. Please note that you should put the name of the scholarship in the title of your essay so it is clear which scholarship you are applying for. Deliver a printed copy of the essay to Ms. Atiyeh in the Deans' Suite. Please contact Dr. Olenak or Ms. Atiyeh if you have any questions regarding the scholarship criteria or application process.

William Rice Scholarship Opportunity

The scholarship is based on academic performance, financial need, and contributions to campus diversity efforts. Students who are interested can self-nominate or ask a faculty to nominate them. Self-nominations must be followed by a faculty or advisor statement of support. The student is required to write a 200 word essay on their contributions to campus diversity efforts. Academic performance and financial need information will be provided by the University. Please submit nominations to Dr. Julie Olenak at julie.olenak@wilkes.edu and your essay by April 25th by noon to Ms. Karen Atiyeh at karen.atiyeh@wilkes.edu. Although the deadline is within this semester, please note that these scholarships would not be applied to your financial account until next (2016-2017) academic year.

Pharmacy Scholarship
The Pharmacy Scholarship criteria includes: academic performance, financial aid status, and an essay evaluation. A student may self-nominate for this scholarship or be nominated by a faculty member. Preference will be given to students who are not eligible for undergraduate level financial aid awards but that does not exclude any student from applying. The student should submit a printed copy of a 200 word essay on "type of alumni I will be" to Ms. Karen Atiyeh by April 25th at noon. Although the deadline is within this semester, please note that these scholarships would not be applied to your financial account until next (2016-2017) academic year.

Samuel Berk Memorial Scholarship
The Samuel Berk Memorial Scholarship criteria includes: academic performance, financial aid, and an essay evaluation. A student may self-nominate for this scholarship or be nominated by a faculty member. Preference will be given to students who are not eligible for undergraduate level financial aid awards but that does not exclude any student from applying. The student should submit a printed copy of a 200 word essay on "involvement in School of Pharmacy and community extracurricular activities" to Ms. Karen Atiyeh by April 25th at noon. Although the deadline is within this semester, please note that these scholarships would not be applied to your financial account until next (2016-2017) academic year.

Walgreens Diversity Scholarship
This scholarship is designated to be awarded to a student who represents a diverse group or underrepresented minority. The student must be in good academic standing, have an interest in community pharmacy, and not have been a prior recipient of this scholarship. Students who meet these criteria should submit a one page essay to Ms. Atiyeh by April 25th at noon.

Walgreens Diversity & Inclusion Excellence Scholarship
Students interested in being considered for this scholarship must be faculty nominated. Please approach your advisor, faculty member, or professional staff member if you feel you are a good candidate to be nominated. The criteria include: that the student must embrace diversity and promote diversity and inclusion awareness initiatives on campus, be in good academic standing, not have been a previous recipient of the Walgreens Diversity Scholarship, and preference is given to a current Walgreens employee. Students who are nominated will be contacted to submit an essay explaining how they have made significant efforts towards raising awareness or playing an active role in educating other about diversity and inclusion related matters impacting the pharmacy profession. The advisors, faculty, and professional staff nominations of students are due April 20th. Students who are nominated will be contacted directly with the due date of the essay.

CVS Health Foundation
These scholarships are awarded to students who are in good academic standing, interested in community pharmacy practice career, and the interned/volunteered with an organization that supports the underserved populations. Please note there is a specific scholarship if you are a bilingual speaking student. Please indicate that in your essay. Students should submit a one page printed essay to Ms. Atiyeh by April 25th at noon.
