Human Trafficking Awareness Program

The Human Trafficking Awareness & Prevention Committee at Marywood University, comprising of faculty, students and community members, have organized a two day event to raise awareness about sex and labor trafficking in Scranton, Pennsylvania:


• Film Screening and Panel Discussion: This event will begin with the screening of the film "Pittsburgh Fights Back" followed by a panel discussion comprising of social activists with significant experience on the issue of trafficking: Heather Evans, Founder Director, Valley Against Sex trafficking (VAST), Debbie Colton, Founder, Director, Oasis of Hope, & Krista Hoffman, Technical Consultant, Faculty, Messiah College. • Annual Poster day event: This event will begin with a short training/orientation session on human trafficking by Dr. Mark Rodgers, Dean of College of Health and Human Services to all the volunteers for the event. Following the training/orientation session, the volunteers will be divided into groups and handed informational posters on trafficking to advertise within assigned communities (local businesses, organizations, and local stores) in Scranton. To participate in the event, please join the planners of the event in Liberal Arts Center, Room 319 on April 17, 2015 at 9:00 am.
