Wilkes University Civic Band Presents Holiday Pops Concert on December 11

The Wilkes University Civic Bandwill  present a holiday pops concert in the Dorothy Dickson Darte Center for the Performing Arts. The event will take place on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m. The concert also will feature the University’s Marching Colonels. Admission is free.
 
The program, conducted by Philip G. Simon, associate professor of music and, is a holiday pop-song themed event. It will feature Anthony Kurdilla, a tenor saxophonist soloist and includes music by Adam F. Brennan, Norman Dello Joio, Warren Kellerhouse, Alfred Burt, Carl Orff, Fred Mullen III.   
 
The Marching Colonels, directed by Jon Gardner, will perform a concert presentation of their 2016 half time show.  
 
The Wilkes University Civic Band, directed by Philip Simon, is a wind and percussion ensemble comprising Wilkes University student musicians and local adult and student musicians from the community. Membership is by audition. The ensemble performs at least two formal concerts per year and plays at the University’s spring commencement.
