Wilkes University Pharmacy Students Assist With Affordable Care Act Signups
Wilkes University students in the Nesbitt School of Pharmacy will assist community members in signing up for health insurance through the Affordable Care Act in a session on Saturday, Jan. 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The session, held in cooperation with the Advocacy Alliance, will be held in the school of pharmacy in the Stark Learning Center on the Wilkes campus.
This year the open enrollment period for signing up for health insurance through the Affordable Care Act – also known as “Obamacare” -- will end Feb. 15.
Attendees should bring their Social Security numbers or document information for immigrants with satisfactory status; employer and income information for everyone in the family; and federal tax information. Attendees may wish to determine their eligibility for tax credits towards HealthCare Plan premiums in the Marketplace and sign up for an insurance plan that day, or just gather information.
Community members may park behind the Henry Student Center at 84 W. South St., Wilkes-Barre. Signs with walking directions to the event location will be posted at the student center. Individuals are encouraged to call 570-408-4290 to make an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome if space is available.
