Wilkes Professors Present at Global Learning Conference
Evene Estwick, associate professor of communication studies at Wilkes University,
and Maria Grandinetti, assistant professor of nursing, recently presented research
at the Association of American Colleges and Universities’ Global Learning in College
conference in Minneapolis, Minn., Oct. 16 – 18.
Estwick and Grandinetti co-authored the presentation with Linda Winkler, professor of anthropology at Wilkes. The presentation, “Creating Global Citizens through Multidisciplinary Programs, Reciprocal Partnerships, and the United Nations Millennium Goals,” discussed strategies for building global partnerships and curricula using United Nations resources.
For the past three years, these professors have worked together on a global community service project, “Embrace a Child in Tanzania,” which is a Wilkes University-sponsored project that helps raise money for Tanzanian children whose parents died of AIDS.
AAC&U’s conference had more than 500 participants who shared insights, challenges and opportunities regarding global learning.
