Employee Benefits

Eligible full-time employees at Wilkes University are provided a wide range of benefits. A number of the programs (such as Social Security, workers' compensation, state disability, and unemployment insurance) cover all employees in the manner prescribed by law.

Wilkes University also provides a Flexible Benefits Plan for full-time employees that offers choices on health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, term life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance and law/legal services. Employees make elections on an annual basis.

Full-time employees are allotted an annual flexible benefits cash budget to help defray the costs associated with selected "choice" benefits or to be taken as additional income. When used to purchase benefits, the budget is received as pre-tax dollars. Any portion of the budget received as "cash" by the employee is taxable to the employee.

Benefits eligibility is dependent upon a variety of factors, including employee classification. The Human Resources Development Office can identify the programs for which you are eligible. Details of many of these programs can be found elsewhere in the employee policies manual.

The following benefit programs are also available to eligible employees:

* Benefit Conversion at Termination
