WAYS TO GIVE AND MAKE SCHMIDT STADIUM POSSIBLE

Thank you for your interest in making a gift to support the stadium project!

There are several gift options available to make a financial contribution to Wilkes University in support of a new stadium. Donors wishing to make a leadership gift to help name a facility have the option of making a one-time gift or structuring a pledge that can be fulfilled in payments up to five years. Your contribution will be designated to the naming of Schmidt Stadium unless otherwise indicated by you, the donor.

Options include contributions of cash, check or credit card. In addition you can make a gift via securities (stocks, bonds, and mutual funds), a pledge, or a planned gift (bequest, charitable gift annuity, etc.). Gifts must be received by December 31 in order to be eligible for a charitable deduction on income tax returns for that year, or by May 31 in order to count for a gift during the University’s fiscal year (June 1-May31).

A pledge is a promise to pay your charitable gift at a future date or over a designated period of time. You can also spread out pledge payments with an installment plan in monthly, quarterly or semiannual or annual payments.

Benefits to you
In addition to knowing you have helped current and future Wilkes student athletes and are instrumental in paying tribute to Coach Schmidt; charitable gifts are generally exempt from taxation for those who itemize deductions on their tax returns. A leadership gift of $1,000 or more also provides you with recognition in The John Wilkes Society, as well as many benefits of membership in The John Wilkes Society.

Donors who contribute $5,000 or more will be given special recognition as members of "The Kick-Off Club" whose gifts have made possible the completion of Phase II and the naming of Schmidt Stadium.

Gifts of Cash, Checks, Credit Cards, Securities & Matching Gifts:

Cash gifts offer a tax deduction for the full amount of the gift in the year it is made.

Checks –
Checks made payable to Wilkes University should be sent to the Wilkes University Gift Processing Center, Citizens Bank, 111 E. Market Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701-9988. Your contribution will be credited to the Wilkes Stadium Project unless otherwise indicated by the donor.

Credit Card
Wilkes accepts Discover, Visa, MasterCard, and AMEX. Make a gift online at any time or call 570-408-7832 during business hours to make a credit card gift by phone.

Stocks or Securities
Much like cash, gifts of stock are tax deductible at full fair market value if held for at least a year. The donor is not taxed on long-term capital appreciation and provide you a charitable income tax deduction that reduces the cost of your gift.

Matching Gifts
A matching gift is one that a company donates to match the charitable gift of an employee (or their spouse/partner). Most often, corporations match charitable donations made by active employees however many also match for retirees as well. If you or your spouse/partner are associated with a matching gift company, your gift could double or even triple in amount, depending on the corporation's policy and are credited in full toward leadership gift recognition and membership in The John Wilkes Society.. To check your company's eligibility and policies, see Matching Gifts.
