Dear Prospective Student:

Let me take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in the Wilkes University Intensive English Program (IEP). This program will provide you with 27 hours per week of high quality intensive English instruction to help you prepare for university study in the United States. The program has six levels, beginning to advanced, offered for 13 and ½ weeks, Summer, Fall and Spring.

We would be delighted to welcome you to Wilkes-Barre and have you study with us. We can help you improve your English so that you can achieve your goals, whether you plan to attend Wilkes University (WU) or another U.S. college or university. We offer both TOEFL iBT and IELTS preparation classes as part of our afternoon classes, and the core classes of reading, writing, listening/speaking and grammar all take place in the morning, Monday through Friday. We have highly qualified teachers and a small program, our largest class has 14 students, and the average class size is 8. We are confident our program will meet your needs, but don’t take my word for it, hear what other students have to say here.

You will find our IEP challenging and enjoyable, our classes and curriculum demanding and fun, with a strong focus on developing your critical thinking and academic skills. Our teachers are well trained, highly experienced, and truly dedicated to their students. They can help you advance your skills and learn to succeed in an English-speaking world.  In addition, your tuition will cover all extra curricular trips and activities, which range from trips to New York City and Broadway plays, to local cultural events such as the Lackawanna Coal Mine and the Bloomsburg Fair.

Take a moment to visit our website and discover the ways our program can help you. If you decide our IEP is right for you, please contact me at: kimberly.niezgoda@wilkes.edu I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

I look forward to hearing from you and hope to welcome you to Wilkes University someday soon.

Sincerely,

Dr. Kimberly Niezgoda
Director, Intensive English Program
