Wilkes Online DNP - Online Doctor of Nursing Practice Program

Wilkes University’s DNP program is designed for nurses seeking a practice-focused terminal degree that prepares them for a professional leadership role in the 21st century. DNP nurses will be educated to apply research-based scientific knowledge in clinical settings, ensuring achievement of optimum patient outcomes.

Wilkes University is the first institution in northeastern Pennsylvania to offer this degree. As of 2015, all new advanced-practice nurses in the United States must be educated to the doctoral level. This includes nurse practitioners, midwives, anesthetists and clinical nurse specialists.

Master’s-level advanced-practice nurses must complete 30 credits to complete the Wilkes DNP. Master’s-prepared nurses without an advanced-practice component will be evaluated on an individual basis and will take an estimated 45 to 49 credits in the program.
Bachelor’s-level nurses must complete 66 to 70 credits, depending on the concentration selected. Students with a bachelor’s degree who enroll part-time will be able to complete the degree in about five years.
